WHAT IS RSS?

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is an internet service that lets you know when new content has been added to a website. The advantage of subscribing to a feed is that new content is sent directly to you rather than you having to visit the website to check. Typically, web owners create an RSS feed which users can then add to a news reader (RSS aggregator).

What is an RSS newsreader?

In order to be able to receive RSS newsfeeds you need to either download a news reader tool to your computer or sign up for an online reader with sites such as www.bloglines.com or FeedDemon. MAC users can try Newsfire or NetNewsWire

Once you have an RSS feed reader you can start to select the newsfeeds that you want to receive by copying the XML / RSS feed link from the Web Site and pasting it into the newsreader.

When a new item appears in any of the sites that you subscribe to the new information will pop up in the news reader, automatically notifying you of new items on your selected feeds.
